It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Chris Bromley FSMAE on the 25th September following a prolonged battle with cancer at the age of 67.
The contribution that Chris made to the model flying movement over many years was remarkable. He was a long standing (22 years) Chairman of the North West Area and served as the BMFA's Technical Secretary for 26 years. Listing just a few of his achievement: he instigated the BMFA’s first website, built and maintained the office computer system for many years, gained us recognition from the Sports Council, co-ordinated the Power National Championships for almost 20 years, prepared the Contest and Events calendar, manned the BMFA stand at innumerable shows, served as our representative to the UKRCC, and for many years wrote all of our Contest Rule Books, Achievement Scheme Booklets and Members Handbook.
Chris had suffered with a range of long standing health issues prior to his cancer diagnosis but always managed to maintain a very positive outlook and rarely let his health get in the way of his work for the BMFA.
Our condolences and sympathy are with his very close and devoted family at this sad time.
The funeral will take place on Thursday 9th October, 2.30pm at Carleton Crematorium. Stocks Rd, Blackpool, FY6 7QS. There will be a gathering afterwards at the Cliffs Hotel, Queens Promenade, Blackpool FY2 9SG.
In accordance with Chris’s wishes, donations are invited in place of floral tributes and will be for either the local hospice or The Christie Hospital. Donations can be made via:
