This aircraft is the well-known Great Planes Boeing Stearman, a few years old. It's a good flyer but has had little use - my guess would be 20 flights perhaps total. I've decided that I don't really enjoy models of this size so I'm having a clear out after it has been sitting in the workshop unflown for a couple of years.
Initially I built this for a Saito 19cc radial, but I found that on my relatively small grass strip it was just not quite powerful enough. The strip was also rather bumpy and the undercarriage was taken of on a couple of occasions, puncturing the covering on the lower wing. This has been repaired and the u/c mount has been strengthened. The spats and underside of the cowl were damaged and I repaired these more for function than appearance, as the damage is mainly to the underside. So whilst the model flies perfectly well now and looks A1 in the air, there's a need for some attention to detail to make it look tidy to closer inspection, if that's what you want. I've priced it to allow for this.
It is now fitted with a 25cc NGH petrol engine which is much more powerful and pulls it into the air briskly if required. The servos are Hitec and Spektrum. It has a 5x NiMH cells for the receiver and a 2SLiPo with a kill switch for the ignition. It has a new-for-the-model FrSky X6R receiver which I would use again so have priced it without the receiver, but I'd leave it in place for the price of a replacement (£25).
I put some Saito decals on the cowl initially that I haven't removed. I notice some pics on the web show this model with wire rigging. It's not necessary for flight and I've never used any.
Pick up only, from south Cheshire near Malpas.
