Our round today (Music) was due to start at 3.20pm but a band of rain was forecast for around 4.30 / 5pm so the organisers asked if we minded starting early to try and avoid the rain. We were all at the competition site by 2.55pm having been at the practise site since 9.30am.
Luca Pescante was 4th up and as Duncan's main rival we were all watching closely. He flew a very precise to the music flight and scored 539.50 - Luca was definitely going to be the one to beat in this round.
Stu was the first of the GBR pilots to fly & flew a fantastic round scoring 498.5 points. The next of our pilots to fly was Summer who put in a very solid round scoring 448. The next pilot to watch was the Danish no. 1, Rasmus Jakobsen. His was a very entertaining flight scoring 529.50, just 10 points behind Luca.
Duncan flew immediately after Rasmus. The whole team had been helping Duncan finalise his music flight the night before and this morning, as he was undecided on a few elements. He put in the flight of his life and scored 545 putting himself on top in this round. Dave was the last of the GBR pilots to fly and he also flew an amazing flight scoring 501 (his best ever music score) & beating Stu by 2.5 points.
With the final Preliminary results released (https://www.f3scoring.com/.../CompetitionScheduleResult/1273) the GBR pilots were positioned as follows:
1st Duncan Osbourn
5th Stu Smith
7th Dave Fisher
9th Summer Fisher
A fantastic position to be in going into the Finals tomorrow. At the moment the GBR team is in first place so to celebrate we're off out to a restaurant for dinner (instead of me cooking). First though I'm off to a team managers' meeting where the flying order for the 3 Finals rounds will be decided.
