Sunday 21st July
7am - Further torrential rain has brought chaos to the competition this morning. Competitors are here eager to fly , but conditions are very poor.
Most of us are sheltering in cars or under gazebos. Waterproof clothing is the required attire today
9am - Competition postponed until midday due to conditions.
11am - Returned to the field after 11am for 12 noon start.
Phil Ball and Mike Woolner had 5 maxes. Slight hiatus at 3pm for further rain but only for a short time.
24 in first fly off. With an 8 min max. Final fly off at 8.50pm. Pitch dark leaving the field.
Phil Ball had an exciting retrieve having to crawl under a fence, Peter "Spiderman "Brown climbed said fence and also had to fend off some rather aggressive sheepdogs. Final excitement was Mike Woodhouse managing to avoid a suicidal chicken as he drove away from field.
All ways round an exciting day.
Monday 22nd July
A slightly more restful day for the team .
Registration and processing with a time slot of 3-3.30. at the field. Followed at 6 pm by the opening ceremony at a local stadium.
Weather still unpredictable, we have had thunderstorms.
A good practice session held after opening ceremony and we had the opportunity o speak to an ex world champion from Sweden, Robert Helgren, who is here 21 years after winning the championship. He came close to winning at 20 years but was placed 2nd.
