Pre Championships Report
Prior to the competition we decided that we needed to test and show that we could control stress levels and keep rehydrated so Dave Wiseman took up black jack at the local casino and won whilst Johnathon Crabtree practiced his re hydration techniques. Both were done successfully. It was also amazing to see some of the RV's which some of the F2D competitors arrived in. What a away to Travel, it put my Autotrail Apache to shame BUT I wouldn't want to drive some of these on our UK Roads.

Day 1
F2D 2024 championships.

Well the team is here after an eventful trip. The model boxes were refused entry to the plane at JFK but after some strong discussions they were allowed on but we nearly missed the connection flight to Indianapolis. Thankfully the connection flight was delayed. The delay did give Andrew shields some valuable running experience getting to the departure gate. More drama was to follow however when all three wooden boxes were damaged when we collected the. Luckily the models were fine.

Today was our first chance to set up the models and motors at the site ready for the World Cup which starts tomorrow. We all had motor issues but after some minor work which ranged from shim changes to wet and dry paper all went well and we are ready for tomorrow. Johnathon as usual spent most of the time cleaning his models which as always look immaculate. More news will be uploaded tomorrow after the first days of competition.

Day 2
Day 2 of the championships was eventful. Both Mervyn jones and Kevin Morgan are getting scores in the 900+ which would win most UK comps. This is also very impressive in the USA because of how they view our flying style so a very big well done to Merv’s and Kev.

Andy Shields is flying very well indeed and beat the current European champion Raul today and continues into round 4 with 2 lives. One of only 9 people to have 2 lives left. Both Johnathon and I won our matches so this is the first time in years where we have had 3 Brits in the 3rd round. Unfortunately though both John and I were knocked out in the following round. Johnathan being beaten in cuts after a good bout and I lost after a pitting infringement after being 2 cuts to 0 plus ground time up against Mateo from Spain. So we are all behind Andy to get him as far as possible. The way he is flying it could be all the way.
