Despite the disappointment of not having models, we ended up having a rather good day enviously watching our fellow competitor's practice flights and seeing the hanger fill with world class models.
We still haven't got our models out of customs but Steffen from the Romanian NAC spent over 2 1/2 hours and at least 2 dozen phone calls trying to straighten the situation out. The situation still isn't resolved, the whole haulage system in Romania shuts down at weekend so there's nothing doing until Monday. We've got a plan together and for Monday which should get us the models by Tuesday and possibly Monday afternoon. Our fellow competitors and event CD are more than happy to accommodate us as and when we get the models but we will miss the practice sessions (final practice session tomorrow) and have our first flights in the competition as out first competition flights - shouldn't be any great shakes as we don't get practice session in domestic competitions.
In amongst the phone calls and fuss we had a great time looking at other models and drumming up support for the 2026 FAI F4 Scale World Championships which will be held at Buckminster. Each and every competitor is a keen modeller, keen to build, keen to detail, and keen to fly - just like us! Despite this championship only just beginning, folk are already looking forward to 2026 and chatting about their new projects, improvements to current models, and getting excited about coming over and having a fly with us 😊
