We would like to report the passing of Roy Scott, founder of Micro-Mold Products. Roy passed away very recently (August) he was 89 years of age.

Roy’s company Micro-Mold started in 1965/1966 in a lock up garage in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Over the years he started to purchase other modelling companies including C & C Castings (military miniatures); Bellona (van formed scenery for military modellers and railways); Avoncraft (range of vac formed fuselage and foam wing models) MM Radio Systems (radio control equipment); Telco (Co2 motors). Tenmille Products started in 1979 (Garden railways) Plastic shoe soles and control horns; DN1 first commercial Chris Foss kit mini phase (moulded balsa parts). He did also have a store in Bognor but decided to concentrate all efforts on one shop.

As a result of his interest in model railways and frustration with slow progress on his own garden railway, due to the lack of commercial items. Most of us will have used his products at some time. The first item Roy produced in the early days was the MM DN1 small control horn then ball and quick links and many other accessories followed. A little later, the first moulded abs models, also the 1/10th famous Warplanes series. These were designed by Howard Funnell. He opened Sussex Model Centre in 1973 and this still provides great service both here and worldwide. It is now run by his sons Paul and Nick and Justin Scott his grandson.

Condolences to his widow and family.

The funeral has already taken place.
