<p>As reported in the last issue of the BMFA news the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes in to force on 25<sup>th</sup> May 2018, there are a number of documents available for you to download from the club support page at <a href="https://www.bmfa.org/Clubs/Club-Support">https://www.bmfa.org/Clubs/Club-Support</a> these should provide you with all the information BMFA Affiliated Clubs and Specialist Bodies require so you are able to take the necessary steps towards GDPR compliance. GDPR is quite a complex regulation and there is a huge amount of information available.</p>

<p>Assuming you already have sensible data protection procedures in place the steps to full GDPR compliance are few and not too difficult to introduce and there should be no difficulty in having everything in place for 25<sup>th</sup> May 2018. However model flying clubs are not the primary concern for the Information Commissioners Office and they have indicated that as long as steps are being taken towards compliance they are unlikely to look to take action.</p>
<p>To further assist you in complying with GDPR requirements we are introducing a brand new membership system, coming soon, hopefully around June/July 2018 which will take care of personal data storage and many of the consent requirements. We strongly recommend all clubs and specialist bodies use this to administer your club information.</p>
